Geesh, I've been reading all the wrong threads. I had no idea what was going on in the "For Sale" forum.

Well, I'll have to get over and there and start filling up my shopping cart.

PS - if you win one of these sleeves, does that entitle one to belong to a special Beatles collector club membership?

Yes, you are a free member of this forum for the rest of your life, lol!

Anyway, thanks for your bid Jim!

And indeed another copy was put up on eBay before, with the same description. (I am basically a lazy guy). You've seen in the other thread where these babies came from and how I got to buy a few copies. They're 100% authentic.

Found an interesting one today, a siuk copy on a polo ring post 72 pressing....

up until now only seen 72 copies with SIUK on Lady Madonna...

Clearly they used up old labels on SFF too.

I've had to highlight the pics so you can see the polo rings..

I have a 1976, polo ring, green sleeve which doesn't have the boxed EMI logo. Anyone else seen/have one of these?

I think that there are quite a few of these about, but I've never found them in a green sleeve - so perhaps that is a subsequent swap?

Examples:

Eleanor R/Yellow S

Thanks for that.

They may be rare with the green sleeve, but the look and feel of the record certainly seems the perfect vintage for the green sleeve era.

as Henry VIII I wrote that so i'd do you for copyright if it hadn't expired in 1587 !!

Yes Rich that example is on here if you go back a bit it is also the same as the one I posted earlier but without the Sold in Uk text

I may have mentioned before EMI start pressing these polo rings in 1972, I am certain of this date because I remember being singularly unimpressed, they would often be marked even when new, could be dulled and the play quality was often far inferior to the old flat edged non polo ring issues.

Of course thats why it should not have the siuk text which shows emi were using up old labels, however the copy I found is the only one i have ever seen with SIUK text although I also have a Lady Madonna like this and another Lady Madonna with SIUK on one side and not the other, all with polo rings so all date post 72.

It is also likely that EMI pressed these up until 1976 even though they still had gramophone co rims ( which should have beern replaced in 1973 with emi recs ) and were most likely only supplanted by the 1976 re-issues

When you say green sleeve we all i think are assuming you mean the green picture sleeve ???...if so then this is almost certainly a swap as was said. However if you mean the green company sleeve with the swirls around the die cut centre then that is the correct sleeve for these polo rings for sure...
