Was this the only Beatles single to feature a comma seperator on the composer credits as opposed to a hyphen, or are there others?

I have a copy of 'Hello, Goodbye' with the comma.

Beat me to it :)

I only have the comma separator on these two releases; both TNR fonts.

Got another weirdo...I've tried to enhance the pics to show the polo rings around the spindle hole. They are small polo rings and both are the same size, the edge is flat and nor knofe edged and there is no tax stamp so I am assuming its post october 1968 but its a new one on me....

Hi everyone. I picked up a copy of Day tripper recently for the princely sum of 50pence. On close examination I find the following..........

Day Tripper. This label has the small Parlophone logo, a comma between Lennon and McCartney, Gramophone co.ltd and the larger type "sold in uk", push out centre. The link below is the closest image to my copy, however, this image has the large Parlophone logo.

http://yokono.co.uk/collection/beatles/uk/...side2_large.jpg

We can work it out. This side has large Parlophone logo, a hyphen between Lennon and McCartney, Parlophone co.ltd, smaller type "sold in uk".

http://yokono.co.uk/collection/beatles/uk/...wecan_large.jpg

so my own research suggests that one side is a first pressing label, whilst the other is a second pressing label.

Can anyone explain this anomaly? And, any idea of its value?

Cheers

AH

P.S. If anyone can give me an idiot guide to upping a photo I'll put up a pic of Day tripper

Hi Admiral and welcome to this place!

What we have here is what is called a cross-over pressing, using labels from different 'editions', as can be seen from the different types of font used on each side. There are actually quite a few of these floating around; I actually own 3 different crossovers of We Can Work It Out/Day Tripper.

I would say they are of nominal value, where of course a higher price could be realised for NM or M copies.

Thanks for the info. I sold a complete set of Beatles/solo records ten years ago for £10,000 (1962-85). I considered myself a serious collector then, but then we weren't interested in label variations of Beatles singles too much at that time. Most people I knew differentiated between a black label original and the ones featuring EMI in the small box below The Beatles as re-issues. Certainly no-one really knew what actually existed back then. Lately I've noticed much more interest in the label differences, and found some good informative sites.

Well, I'm sure if you check the threads here you will find a great deal of info on label variations. Also, Bruce Spizer's current book is a tomb of information on the subject.

yes defo a cross ova, I have one myself....not really 2nd or first pressings since they were probably both around at the same time, like the label variations for Help but I understand why people call them that.

I am sure its more to do with who printed the labels or which label font, one font style used up the Parlophone rim text the other the new Grampphone co rim text.
