Frank is telling me to be on the look out for 11 known versions. ( maybe more ) Amazing! Hopefully, Frank may bestow his list here on the forum. Many of you may have some of the label versions he's looking for. PS - I won the solid 1967 version and am waiting for it to arrive. I am offering the scans to Frank to put in with Bruce's new book, if he wants it. Jim Key |

Okay, Jim...here are the twelve (12) variants of T&S that date to 1969 and earlier. The numbering system is mine. A backdrop change is denoted by a new number at the beginning: 02, 03, 04, 69. A major variety is given a lower-case letter: a, b, c, etc.. Minor shifts in label text are indicated with suffix numbers: 1, 2, 3, etc. There are SIX (6) known "major" variations, plus shifts in text. Since this was probably the best-selling British EP of all time, EMI were constantly having to fill orders for new labels. GEP-8882 label 02a – Parlophone Co. rim print; no “Sold in UK” tax disclaimer. The font used on all of the text except for the title and catalog number has serifs. (02a1) = The song titles on side 1 are crowded; there is little space between lines. The left-hand side number is under the “CE” of the matrix number. (02a2) = There is more space between song titles on side 1 (shown left). The left-hand side number is under the “CE” of the matrix number. (02a3) = There is more space between song titles on side 1. The left-hand side number is under the “TC” of the matrix number. GEP-8882 label 02b – Parlophone Co. rim print; no “Sold in UK” tax disclaimer. The font used on all of the text lacks serifs. (02b1) = “BIEM” is left-aligned with “MECOLICO.” The “S” in “SHERWIN” is over the “I” in “BIEM.” (02b2) = “BIEM” is indented along with “SHERWIN,” although slightly less so. (02b3) = “BIEM” is indented along with “SHERWIN,” and slightly more so. B-side misprints a title as “Do You Want a Know a Secret” on each of the above three. (02b4) = “BIEM” is left-aligned with “MECOLICO” and “AMBASSADOR,” and the “S” in “SHERWIN” is over the “B” in “BIEM.” The left side of the “M” in “MUSIC” is over the “E” in “RECORDING.” Side-two title correctly spelled. (02b5) = The alignment and spelling are otherwise like 02b4, but the left side of the “M” in “MUSIC” is over the first “R” in “RECORDING.” GEP-8882 label 03a – Parlophone Co. rim print; with “Sold in UK” tax disclaimer. The font used on all of the text lacks serifs. B-side misprints a title as “Do You Want a Know a Secret.” GEP-8882 label 03b – Parlophone Co. rim print; with “Sold in UK” tax disclaimer. The font used on all of the text has serifs. B-side title spelled correctly as “Do You Want to Know a Secret.” (p) 1963 on label. GEP-8882 label 04 – Gramophone Co. rim print; with “Sold in UK” tax disclaimer. The font used on all of the text lacks serifs. Issued 1965. Known with solid center. GEP-8882 label 69 – “Gramophone” rim print and no “Sold in UK” tax disclaimer. One day, maybe, I'll get pix of all of them! Most can be found on popsike. Covers that these are found with: G&L -- rounded flaps; no tab (earlier) G&L -- rounded flaps; with thumb tab (c. 1965?) G&L -- unusual flaps; late 1960's Frank |

I got an odd one of these the other day, a " 69 "pressing Gramophone rims no SIUK. What was odd was that it had the " tapered " knife edge but the push out centre did not have the polo rings....its not a contract but in 40 years I've never seen anything like it !! |

I just found this today - another solid center Twist and Shout! http://cgi.ebay.com/M-RARE-BEATLES-UK-ISSU...=item3a5d01e172 Sans serif fonts - Gramo rim print. Is this the 69 version? Jim Key |

Jim: That's a 69, but the publishing credits have the font shifted slightly from the one that I am familiar with. So, that makes it a 69a2 in my notation. Same font, but different placement. This is the font placement on the one that I had seen before. Click here. Notice also the polo ring, which was also on the other copy that I saw. Frank |

Thanks for the clarification, Frank. So this '69 solid may be variation #13, I presume... ...worth adding to the book probably, let alone a collection Jim Key |

I've aquired a label 3b, Parlophone rim text but (p) 1963 which must originate from after feb 1965 I'll add a scan in the fullness of time unless its already been done elsewhere ? and Has anybody seen ep sleeve's with some king of embossing on the rear. I have a Twist and shout embossed with an NF in a circle and another ( Beatles Hits I think ) with a partial larger emboss that looks like it might have the matrix number on it but I cannot be certain. |

This may be another variant. Push-out, 2N/1N, KT tax code, with sherwin-Biem-Mecolico and Ambassador all left justified. £5, plays nicely without skips etc. AH http://s1270.photobucket.com/albums/jj616/...nt=P1120586.jpg |

Picked this one up today as well, not sure if this is a noted variant. AH http://i1270.photobucket.com/albums/jj616/...63/P1120587.jpg ps. just checked beginning of thread and it looks like a slide rule variant on the one posted by BAARD. |

This one doesn't seem to appear in this thread......early 70's pressing, solid centre, no sold in uk text. AH P.S. I have a 1st pressing 1N/1N with only a K for the tax code, upside-down at the 12 O'clock position. http://i1270.photobucket.com/albums/jj616/...zps9d803fec.jpg http://s1270.photobucket.com/albums/jj616/...zps58ec8150.jpg |

You did well AH! For the mssing tax code, this could happen during the 60s....missing K or missing T. |
