Hi,

I’ve just had a look through my increasing pile of inners sleeves, (Im getting as bad as Henry) and I found two white plain ‘Patent applied for’ ‘Made in England’ inners ….. they have square-ish corners at the bottom but are not completely square.

I do have another plain white inner with completely square corners, with ‘Patent no. 125,555’ and ‘Made in Great Britain’ on.

I must say that these three inners must have come with Beatle LPs but I didn’t think they were original so I changed them !

I have noticed in gen that the Sgt Pepper LP, without the ‘Day in the life’ credit is often seen with ‘almost’ square bottom corners, plain white inner sleeve.

there are some with very anglular cut corners, these are often seen on " Oldies " these seem to have PATENT applied for on them, the normal ones have patentS applied for..check your copies out Will

Most however cut in the same way as most fool inners.

The very rounded cut ones are from probably 1969 and are identical the rounded cornered patents numberd inners you get on Abbey Road and LIB. These rounded corner inners seem to dissapear around 1971 and the shape of the Apple copyright inners become the norm. I have only seen one patents applied for verison, the rest are patents numbered.

However the one I was talking about is totally square. There may also be a square " fool " inner version of this but I have yet to confirm that!

Will I can tell you are becomming a true disciple !!

Hi,

The two square-ish at the bottom inners have ‘Patent applied for’ I see what you mean about the 1966+ regular plain white inners, as they have the plural ‘Patents’…. well spotted. I think one of the ‘Patent’ sleeves came with a Pepper one box Stereo ?, but I changed it to the 16 box red n white EMI advertising sleeve !

As for the totally square inner, no I haven’t seen one of those, although I did get a 1st press Pepper Stereo with a square wavy inner !, I argued with the seller as I thought the inner to be an American wavy inner and not the correct UK wavy inner.

Thing is with inners ‘H’ is that they are the first thing to be wrecked and then replaced, I get so many nice records with the wrong inner, it’s a pleasure to put the correct inner with a record and then sell it on for a nice little profit… lol … what clever chaps we are.

Ive noticed more and more now that with records found in Charity shops and Car Boots in the UK, the original inners have already been taken out !…..

That Pepper fool inner may have been foreign but I'd like to see one, if it has patents applied for on it then it's the UK one of which I speak !!

I agree it's nice to find an old mrs mills and put the inner in your Beatles LP but of course it has to be the correct one lol !!

Will if you get to Wood street antiques Market Walthamstow there is a junk record place that sells 8 lps for a pound - just hunt for the inners from all sorts of studio two lps and the like!
