At the risk of becomming the inner sleeve guru go ahead and challange the muffmaster with your strange LP inner or single company sleeve issue date. I confess this offer is only open to any UK sleeves (my level of so called expertise is sadly limited to these shores ) and from about 1958 to 1974ish which is the year I tended to lose interest lol ! This can be Beatle related or non Beatle related, EMI group or any other group, I am humbly at your disposal !!! Can't say fairer than that!!! |

Hi, Hi Muffmasterh, here is one for you - I got his rather attractive blue and white inner sleeve the other day, is it correct with a Beatle record ?. And what date / period would you say this was from ?. WC. http://www.bubbleshare.com/myalbum/623829.3167f33895f/editor |

LOL. welcome to the Muffmaster inner sleeve post, before I connect you I should warn you that the opinions expressed herein are purely the personal opinions of the Muffmaster, the self style inner sleeve guru and not those of the Beatles Collecting website!! But seriously folks.....that is a Studio 2 Stereo inner Sleeve. Studio 2 was launched in 1965 on the UK Columbia label mainly to showcase Stereo records - altough there were often Mono versions to be found but they were on the standard Columbia label and carried an SX prefix whereas this label carried a TWO prefix not the usual Columnbia stereo prefix of SCX as you should be able to see from that inner sleeve. I think the last releases on this label were around 1972-3 but somebody may wish to correct me on that. Studio 2 of course stands for the famous Abbey Road studio 2. I believe the sleeve you have there dates from around 1970-1 and maybe was used as late as 1972 but only ever used with the special Columbia Studio 2 stereo labels. Thank you for visiting the Muffaster, call again soon!! |

Hi, Yep, sounds all correct to me Muffmasterh, the sleeve says 1971 and is laminated on the front but has NO flipbacks to the rear, I bought the LP for 50p just for this inner sleeve, but if it isn’t Beatle related I wont have any use for it … never mind. I noticed recently that on one of my black n white EMI advertising inner sleeves, if you look closely on each record sleeve being advertised, above the EMI logo, there is the word ‘Colombia’ !..... I assume this is not the correct inner sleeve for a Beatle record ?, so what should it say above the EMI box … Parlophone ? WC. |

Not at all Will, the black and white and sepia inners advertise Columbia, HMV and Parlophone labels and are correct for all this group of labels. Capitol and Motown had their own similar black white inner and there also is the much rarer earlier black white inner that has all the EMI groups on including Columbia Parlophone HMV Capitol Motown Verve and MGM !!! This is the inner that has Rubber Soul on it not the more common one with Revolver. |

Hi, This one will test you Muffmasterh, I just picked this inner sleeve up in a Charity shop, can you put a date on it ? and where it could have been used. It appears to be an early Polylined Emitex with square edges, with ‘Patent applied for’ and ‘Made in England’ on, but reason for buying it was the gold seal to the opening edges that has been broken, it says, ‘For your protection’ black text on a gold background, I suppose it was done to stop the record from sliding around !. Q – could it of ever appeared on a ‘Please Please Me’ LP or an early to mid ‘With the Beatles’ LP ?. thanks, WC http://www.bubbleshare.com/myalbum/627380.58de6b40632/editor |

It's hard to tell without actually feeling the quality of the paper, if it's thick paper then it's probably too early for a Beatles, dating from I think 1960-2 (earler still and it's more likely to be Made in Great Britain rather than England), however it could be later if the paper is a little thinner than it looks from the photo and then could date up to 1964 and could go with PPM WTB or even an early AHDN. However that seal is a new one on me, it could come from the shop, but if it came from the factory that is very interesting!!! |

Hi, Here is one for you Muffmasterh, on the ‘inner sleeve’ theme. I have noticed that some inner sleeves from Beatle records from the late 70s and early 1980s, see photo, seem to have dates on !, would this be the case ?. They all appear to be the white and black EMI ‘important notice’ types, some have a ‘thought bubble’ on and some do not. Q - what do you know about these and what production date would you put on these sleeves WITHOUT the ‘thought bubble’ on ? Thanks WC. http://www.bubbleshare.com/myalbum/632936.6567d7e9799/editor |

Thats absolutely correct Will. These sleeves started appearing late 1974 early 75 I think and lasted into 1980 at least. The "bubble" kind of appears at the middle of this run 76/7/8 and from about 1977 many have dates on too, yours in the picture is indeed from october 1978 And then there a some with the txt in blue, have you seen one of those yet? Hi, Thank you for that, I have seen some of these blue text EMI sleeves, I have a couple, I think they dated from around 71 to 73, judging by the record labels, is that correct ?. I must admit I am only really into the 60s LP pressings really, but these dated sleeves interest me and the dates do seem to vary, not just one or to dates printed on the sleeves ie 08/82 or 09/78…. but many different dates…. wonder why EMI decided to do this ? if the blue txt inners are the same as the ones we have been talking about but with blue txt not black then they also date from the same period, mid to late 70's they cannot be earlier than 1974. An I am the same as you Will, I'm really only in 60's pressings but I know the 70's as thats when I started collection so I got a lot of those inners as new, however I'd lost interest by the 80's and there the muffmasters expertese ends I am afraid lol !! These inners were used on almost every EMI pressing so there are a lot of them that they needed to make but why some are dated and some not we'll never know ;-( |

Hi, Does anyone recognise this poster ?, I think its a ‘Wings’ poster as it has Paul McC and Linda and Denny L in it. Does it belong in a ‘Wings’ LP or is it a separate item ?, is it worth anything ? Thanks WC http://www.shutterfly.com/share/singleshar...7e45aad1e0cdff4 |
