Below is the image for a copy of a UK issue of AYNIL with a Tri-centre that is on ebay at the moment. I have never seen one of these before and was wondering if it was genuine or a custom made effort formed with a saw and file? If it is the former then I'd have thought that the 'sold in the uk' statement would have been a bit more profound. If it is the latter whoever is responsible has made a very good job of it as the current bidding stands at £43 with 3 hours left.

What is the opinion of our viewing experts?

The last copy I saw of that selling on eBay went for about £200. The dinking is different to a solid-center so I don't think it's a fantasy cut job and the puch put center is for a tri-prong center and not a quad.

I think it's a real deal - just no idea how it came about.

I reckon it's a fake, look at the centre, you can still see the raised area you would get with a solid centre....

You have to ask though who would go to the trouble to do it....

Also if it has EMI mother/stampers then it would be case closed, FAKE!

I have seen those tri-spoke push outs only on South African releases. I'm just wondering if some were pressed there with MIGB labels?

I also saw the tri-spoke push center shown as a late 1950's type, with the purple Parlophone labels.

Any thoughts?

I have a South African copy of She Loves You with a tri-centre. The only markings at all in the dead wax are the basic matrix numbers (7XCE 17395 & 7XCE 17396) - there isn't even a '-1N' to describe the actual matrix or cutting room used. And of course no mother or stamper number.

Which suggests (or does it?) that tapes were shipped out to EMI (SA) and they created their own stampers. It isn't inconceivable that a batch of labels were also shipped out with the tapes, of course...

I'll post an image tonight for comparison purposes - if anyone's interested. :D

...and another South African one.
The 'trouble' with believing that the AYNIL tri center is authentic is indeed, as Muffmaster states, the raised area. This is not (clearly) present in SA pressings. As far as I know, tri centers were not pressed in the UK around the time this single came out (1967), only in some African countries.
The theory that labels could've been shipped to SA is not very likely; we would have seen more copies like this...

Probably some joker at EMI concocted this after hours.....

Strange....
With all these fakes flying around it's tricky to bid on such discs. However, the KT tax code is not on the fake ones, if I'm correct.

it looks kosher, but I am just very surprised about the matrix.....

it might indicate that -1-1's are very early indeed and were supplanted pre-release....
