To be fair, I'll just make it known that I'm a fan of Limp Bizkit, and everything that people hate them for is what makes me smile. Nu-metal/rapcore is just a fun kind of music to me. All that said, Gold Cobra is everything a LB fan would want. Bring It Back is layered like a hip hop beat with Borland's badass riff playing throughout, tying in nicely with the chorus. Durst, always quick to defend himself against haters, lays out the hardships in Shark Attack and then hits back hard with Get a Life. The first single, Shotgun, is pretty good. First time I heard it played was on a strictly hip-hop radio station by some DJ who ended up pulling the track before it was even all the way through. Hilarious. What kind of hip-hop station plays LB anyways? Overall, I like the song. Douche Bag was intended to be the first single, so I've read. Kinda glad it didn't, because the hook is pretty sophomoric IMO (Douche Bag! I'ma fuck you up - fuck you, fuck you, fuck you up!) Not to say it's a horrible song, it's just an okay song with a dumb chorus. A couple albums ago, LB released a cover of Behind Blue Eyes as a single, which almost everyone hated. They've only made an attempt on that slower, more personal-sounding feel a few times. Walking Away succeeds in that. Following that, Loser goes for a kinda pop sound, with a hip hop template behind a distort-o bass. It sounds a little gimmicky, but then you get to the next track, Autotunage. It is exactly what you think it is, except it sounds okay as a whole, almost surprisingly good. It helps that Durst has a good set of musicians backing his vocals. Killer In You rocks pretty good, Durst tells a story of a killer on the loose, and challenges you to find the killer in you, should you ever be confronted by him. Bonus tracks on foreign releases include tracks Back Porch, My Own Cobain, Angels, Los Angeles, Middle Finger (with Paul Wall), and Combat Jazz (a straight rap track with Raekwon). Overall, a welcome addition to any Limp Bizkit collection. Everybody already has their mind made up on the band as a whole, and a huge question is whether or not the music outweighs the Durst. As much as so many people would love for the band to make an instrumental release of this one, I feel like there's good proportion here. 2011 1. "Introbra" 1:20 2. "Bring It Back" 2:17 3.
