Ysera kept her gaze fixed in front of herself as she made her way down the twisting staircase. Not allowing her eyes to roam. It just didn’t feel right…Alexstrasza had never seemed so uncertain. Like she was trying to hide something, telling her that everything was fine. It couldn’t have been anything too small if she was refusing to tell anyone. It not only hurt her to know that Alexstrasza didn’t trust her with it…but far above that, she was worried about her. What could it have been? Ysera sighed quietly, not even sure exactly why she was pondering over it so much, let alone why she was going to him. Alexstrasza had always managed to handle things correctly before. Both her own problems and other people’s. And somehow she felt like he would know something about it. Even if it just gave her a hint. Ysera frowned slightly, realizing it was really none of her business anyway. If it was dangerous, Alexstrasza would have told them. But it couldn’t help but trouble her, she’d never seen her sister act so strangely. As if for once she really didn’t have any confidence in what she was doing. Whatever that something was. Ysera shook her head. Confused by all of it. It truthfully didn’t make any sense at all. None of it. She had to wonder what she would say to him if he didn’t have any answers. If he didn’t even know what she was speaking of. Or perhaps he would, but refuse to speak of it to her? Ysera cast a nervous glance around, wondering what Alexstrasza would think if she found out. She pulled a loose strand of her hair out of her face, fiddling with the sleeve of her robe as she reached the door to his study. Lingering outside the door, knowing she might have been playing in areas best left quiet. Ysera felt more like she was lingering on the edge of a decision, for she was. Too disturbed by what was behind her, but trapped on the edge that looked down into what was unknown. Uncertain of whether or not she could ever climb back up if she should jump. Ysera pulled herself out of her thoughts, knowing that if she didn’t just do it. Then it would never be done. And she needed to at least know if he knew anything. For all she knew, in a mere moment he might put all her worry aside. And it might suddenly seem foolish to her. She didn’t know. Ysera bit her lip and knocked on the door. “Malygos?” |

Malygos closed the door to his study with a soft click, setting down his bag and dropping into his chair, exhausted. He examined his fingertips, blanched unaturally pale from his over-use of magic. He'd stretched himself a little. But it had been necessary. What he'd first thought to be hardly more then a rumor had turned into a nasty scrape with a few very disagreeable demons. Nothing he couldn't handle, he'd sustained very minor injuries. Malygos frowned slightly, knowing that he probably should have gone directly to Alexstrasza and Nozdormu to inform them. But he didn't want to trouble Alexstrasza further, she seemed to be struggling a lot as of late, he didn't need to add to her troubles. Besides, where there were a few demons, there was not normally more. They seemed to harbor a ferocious hatred for everything...and most of all, for eachother. He predicted that they would eventually simply fall apart of their own doing. But, perhaps, not before... Malygos sighed quietly, deciding not to think about it. Alexstrasza was right; he was worrying too much. It wasn't like him. Malygos felt his skin prickle. He got to his feet, frowning again. Ysera? How could she have known he was back already? There was a quiet knock on the door, confirming his thoughts. “Malygos?” He opened the door, finding her face. Her eyes were large, wide with concern. Malygos smiled gently at her, trying to reassure her. "Ysera, how are you?" He paused, noting just how grave she looked. "What's wrong?" He opened the door a little wider and stepped aside, offering her entry. "Did you want to talk to me?" |

Ysera felt her heart fluttering inside of her, fighting with the sense of right and wrong. She didn't know, that was why she was seeking help. She shifted slightly, feeling uncomfortable in the silence. There was a strong need to simply turn away and leave as the dead moments pulled on. Ysera breathed out slowly, trying to tell herself that she was just being silly. It hadn't been that long. Then, almost suddenly, the door opened. Causing her jump back slightly. Ysera's eyes found Malygos's face, he was smiling gentle. Looking as though he was trying to reassure her. "Ysera, how are you?" Ysera felt her breath catch in her throat, all words avoiding her. Malygos considered her for a moment, seeming to take in the severe, concerned look that was swimming in her eyes. "What's wrong?" He asked quietly, stepping aside so she could enter. Ysera hesitated, searching his face with large, watchful emerald eyes. "Did you want to talk to me?" She nodded faintly, releasing a slow breath as she attempted in vain to find her voice. Nerves prickled at her insides as she slowly stepped in, turning back to face him again instantly. Clasping her hands slowly in front of herself. "Malygos, I'm sorry to bother you, but I-' Ysera cut herself off, trying to think of what she was actually going to say to him. She silently scolded herself. She should known better then to take up his time before she even knew if she wanted to speak of this. Alexstrasza had just been so strange...it could only concern her. What else was she supposed to do? Ysera ran a hand down her face, feeling the strong need to give into the pressure. "It's Alexstrasza," She breathed, her voice quiet. Ysera fixed Malygos with soft eyes, uncertainty stirring inside of her. "Have you noticed anything? Anything at all? I'm just...worried about her. She's been acting so strange, so quiet, so...broken. But she won't talk to me. And she's never shut me out before...I just can't think of anything that would..." Ysera trailed off, realizing she'd gone much further then she'd meant to. "Am I making any sense at all?" |

Malygos observed her with a dawning sense of concern. She seemed very out of place, even anxious. She stepped inside, and he wondered faintly if she'd forgotten to breath. Ysera turned back to face him, clasping her hands in front of her. Malygos frowned with worry, imploring eyes searching her face. "Malygos, I'm sorry to bother you, but I - " She cut herself off. He nodded slowly, trying to get her to continue. Ysera ran a hand down her face, looking distraught. Malygos bit his lip, wishing he could somehow make her more comfortable, she always acted up so much about things, she felt more then the rest of them did, so perhaps that came with it. "It's Alexstrasza." Malygos startled at the words, drawn sharply and almost painfully back into reality. Her quiet words seemed very loud. Had something happened? "Have you noticed anything? Anything at all? I'm just...worried about her. She's been acting so strange, so quiet, so...broken. But she won't talk to me. And she's never shut me out before...I just can't think of anything that would..." Malygos couldn't help but feel slightly relieved. He exhaled slowly, relaxing a bit, realizing just how tense he'd been. Although what she'd said had been anything but comforting, it was in comparison to a few of the terrible things he hadn't dared imagine. So she wasn't really hurt. Well, not in danger anyway. Malygos cracked a soft smile. Ysera looked ready to drown in her worry. "Am I making any sense at all?" Malygos hesitated, considering her words for a moment. He hadn't spoken to Alexstrasza lately, he'd been dealing with matters away from the Temple for the past few weeks. Recalling the recent events in his life, he came to find that he hadn't seen her in quite awhile, actually. And the last time he had she'd seemed perfectly normal. "You're making sense, Ysera," he said kindly, limiting the concern in his own voice to a minimal level, and hoping that it would rub off on her a bit. "I have not seen Alexstrasza recently though, so I'm afraid I probably can't help you...what is this in reference to? Something very recent, I'd assume? What were you both doing?" He paused, blinking. Perhaps he should go and find Alexstrasza himself, it seemed to almost merrit that. But he wasn't going anywhere until he'd at least made an attempt to set Ysera's mind at ease. |

Ysera eyed Malygos carefully, uncertain. She really had no idea how her words might have sounded to him. Perhaps she was completely overreacting...so many doubts now. But earlier she couldn't stand the thought of ignoring it; now either way seemed to have something wrong with it. Ysera didn't miss the fact that Malygos was smiling gently, clearly trying to over her some type of comfort. Ysera fidgeted a little, wondering how silly she might have looked. "You're making sense, Ysera," Malygos said kindly, looking thoughtful. Ysera breathed out slowly, keeping her eyes focused on him. "I have not seen Alexstrasza recently though, so I'm afraid I probably can't help you...what is this in reference to? Something very recent, I'd assume? What were you both doing?" Ysera bit her lip, suddenly feeling as though she was wasting his time. If he didn't know of anything off hand, then she'd most likely predicted wrong. Still, she supposed she might as well finish since she was here. Ysera ran her fingers through her hair, considering the exact event. "Yes, just a little earlier this afternoon, actually," Ysera hesitated, pulling for the best way to phrase it. A perfect scene imprinted in her mind that she couldn't find words for. She did her best to wipe some of the concern from her face, realizing he obviously didn't find it quite that serious. Or maybe he was just trying to calm her. Ysera knew all too well that no matter how important it might have actually been, that she had gotten a little carried away. "We were just outside talking, I mean, I suppose it started out normal. But I just started to realize how depressed and quiet she was being, so I asked her what was wrong. But I guess, predictably, she told me nothing. I didn't really mean to, but I suppose I pressured her and she just got really strange..." Ysera paused, still feeling relatively uncertain. More then convinced that she wasn't portraying it as serious as it had been. "I probably just sound like I'm overreacting to you...but she seemed really distraught, just in a contained way..." Ysera's eyes traveled briefly around, suddenly not wanting to look at him. It felt strange to talk about it now, it sounded so different then it had seemed. |

Malygos shifted uncertainly. Ysera's posture didn't really change, and she didn't really seem soothed. She was still biting her lip, running her fingers through her hair, looking uncomfortable and somewhat distraught. Malygos sighed quietly, rubbing his eyes. He had a grim feeling that he was wasting his time trying to talk her out of her anxiety. She was already set on not resting until she figured out whatever was wrong with her sister. Malygos couldn't blame her, it concerned him too...but as Alexstrasza wasn't in any kind of danger, there was no reason to lose sleep over it. At least...not yet. "Yes, just a little earlier this afternoon, actually," Ysera answered quietly, stopping, not seeming to know where to go next. She seemed to struggle with herself, fixing up her face so that the concern didn't show through so much. Malygos could still see it quite plainly. He smiled sadly, trying to look as though he believed her. She deserved that much. "We were just outside talking, I mean, I suppose it started out normal. But I just started to realize how depressed and quiet she was being, so I asked her what was wrong. But I guess, predictably, she told me nothing. I didn't really mean to, but I suppose I pressured her and she just got really strange..." Malygos frowned. He could see that she was trying to do herself justice. It didn't sound that bad to him. Everyone had off days, especially someone like Alexstrasza under constant pressure and upholding so much. He would have brushed it aside. But it seemed to bother her so much. "I probably just sound like I'm overreacting to you...but she seemed really distraught, just in a contained way..." Malygos nodded, deciding to follow the trail she was leading him down, even though the logical part of him told him to send her on her way and tell her that nothing was wrong. He paused his train of thought briefly; was that what he wanted to tell her, or was that what he wanted to tell himself? He couldn't find severity in what she was saying because he didn't really believe it completely. But when he considered the possibility that her words were accurate and not some overreaction, it was very troubling indeed. "I..." He trailed off, not really knowing what to say. He couldn't decide how he wanted to handle it. Either way, given what she'd said, he was going to seek out Alexstrasza as soon as he got the chance. But weather to tell her that, confirm that he shared her concerns, and lead her on thinking that way, or to tell her that she was worrying too much and hopefully put her mind at ease in that manner, he couldn't decide. She deserved the truth, but at the same time he wanted to make it less painful. "I don't think it's anything to worry about, Ysera," he said finally, instantly feeling terrible and sick with the lie. But he was careful not to let it show. She didn't deserve to have to deal with this. He would figure it out himself. It was better. "She has alot on her mind, you know. With the increasing sightings of demons and the affairs of the Mortals...she's bound to be upset sometimes," he hoped he sounded convincing. He knew he could have done a better job if he'd believed it himself, but...well, there was no point in looking back, he'd already made the choice. He smiled gently at her. "You shouldn't trouble yourself with such things, Ysera. I'm sure it's no fault of yours, and probably nothing you can fix; nothing you should have to fix. She'll be fine." His mind was already on talking to Alexstrasza. If she was unwilling to share her troubles with Ysera, then why would she speak of it to him? He wondered quietly if he was taking the wrong view on this after all. Malygos winced, hating all the second thoughts he was suddenly having, and realiznig just how much it worried him. |
