Can we have them go over the reasons why they don't want her dead in the comic? Like, explicitly? I mean, I get that Agents will be pretty powerful ghosts and they don't want Clarice to get any more power, especially since she'd likely know how to draw on Lincoln (and might be able to force some of the other crazy ghosts to give up some power too). But that doesn't seem like the only reason. I mean, Franklin and Washington should be able to take her, right? ...As for the comic, dude, I really wouldn't do that. She might need you alive (for now) but she doesn't need you with both arms and she knows people that make new ones. Cutting off the offending hand wouldn't even be a thing to her. |

Yeah - right now if she died she might become a ghost, but other than the agents who want her gone, she doesn't seem to have the necessary fame to become a powerful ghost. So I wonder too why Speedy seems to think it's obvious why they shouldn't kill her and be done with it. Also, if Lincoln went ahead an followed through on his "red-tape" idea, she might find it a tad more difficult to suck his battery power. The car conversation confuses me, actually. "Fertility research?" "Disease prevention?" Her "backers" are the disenfranchised ghosts, right? Is all this so they can repopulate quickly if she manages a major kill-off? Is Lincoln the only battery? Didn't Clarice tell Pat that Hitler and Stalin were "like suns?" Can they be tapped for postmortum energy? |

*erm* Maybe because something like "If you strike me down, I shall be more powerful than you can imagine"?. |

Well, that's the assumption, anyway. But as I said - she has no FAME to draw on. The only people who know she's Bad News are the Collective - and I think once she's dead they'll do their best to forget she existed real quick. Of course, I'm sure she'll be doing her best to make that impossible - but she's not going to have the power she wants if they kill her BEFORE she commits her name-building atrocity. |

Fame isn't the only commodity here. Ben looks/is pretty powerful but let's face it, he's know mostly in a part of the world. There are a lot more famous, or should I say infamous, people around the world. If fame was the only currency, the afterlife would be lot less...mellow than it is. |

Fame being mostly "local" is part of Hope's theory, actually. It's why she didn't see any ghosts when she was in Japan - her background culture is all wrong. So, yeah - fame is only one aspect but as far as simple POWER goes, I got the impression it's one of the most important ones. It's why Smithback wasn't visible to Mako in the cemetery, when Hope was hurt by Clarice - Smithback is too weak to be visible to most of the agents. Although, come to think of it, there's a slight plot inconsistency there. Pat can see some ghosts that Hope can't, because he's an agent and his implant involves "ghost energy technology" (I think that's the explanation). Hope is just a natural medium. Ben was able to manifest to her but she never actually noticed all the other ghosts until the trip to Las Vegas. But Mako's an agent and SHOULD, if that explanation is correct, be able to see Smithback. Oh, well - it's fiction - the rules are a tad "flexible" I guess. Another, more plausible explanation is that I don't understand the rules.

It's clarified a bit more in the novel series that all the Agents have their own scripts and ways of using the implant. I presume most of them don't really perceive the "ghost wavelength," possibly because Pat went to some trouble to ensure they wouldn't. |
