Ladies and gentlemen... I smell a trap. Nobody was sitting on the console. This was orchestrated. They let the good General hear that to help form his opinion of Clarice. Or at least that's how I see it. Also. Hello again, friends. |

I'm not sure "trap" is the right word - though you are correct that it was faked for the General. I'm not entirely sure of the purpose behind it, though. Yes, obviously to guide his opinion of Clarice in the direction they want - though frankly, I'm not sure how hard they have to steer, all things considered. I need to go back and look at the strips of the General talking to Mare again. I remember being more than a little confused about what happened when he came home from shopping and his kitchen cabinets were full. Wasn't he telling Mare about how his wife had left him and taken everything with her? Something like that.... (goes to re-read....) OK - I made a small error. He wasn't telling Mare his WIFE had left him - apparently (from the convo between Mare and Josh later) he was talking about how his ASSISTANT (i.e., Clarice) had left him - taking even the muffins she had baked that morning. And then he got home with his bag of groceries and the muffins were on the counter and the pantry was full. So ... what did Clarice do to his mind? And incidentally, who was it that Clarice was dangling out a window when she was last seen? Edited by Tru, Oct 1 2015, 03:01 AM.

Well we must remember the rules. All conversation is psychological warfare. As for who was being dangled, who knows? Maybe someone who worked on Clarice's arm-ament? I don't remember the particulars of that. scene. I'm also curious as to how soon Clarice figures it out and whether or not she's going to take out the "good" General. |
