Dun dun DUUNNNN!

So... now we perhaps find out. Is this part of Lincoln's "deathscape?" Or Douglass's? Or some ambient thanatography between their hangouts?

Wow, I did not see that one coming.

But when…? Pre-activation, while be was being gradually zombified?

In summary, OMFG.

I did wonder about this one when it was revealed a while back that when possessed you take the ghosts place in the land of the dead.
I can see why the ghosts might want people that were easy to possess, and would design the chip and bitty bush to crush the hosts resistance.

Clear back when Ben went to talk to Douglas, I thought it looked AWFULLY familiar to Pat's "Happy Place." I always wondered, and I'm pretty sure, at this point, Otter's about to prove my theory right. However, I never understood why that might be possible. Hopefully, we'll find out!

There was also a time when Pat is talking in his sleep and Hope wakes him up. He says he's talking to his friend Fredrick who wants to meet Hope in 60 or 70 years.

(I'd reference an exact strip, but I recently reread the archives and I'm not sure where it is.)

Also 9/5/2010:

Douglass: I would ask you to remember me to Pat, but...
Franklin: ...But remembering is the issue, yes.

So yes, Pat goes to this place and talks to Frederick Douglass in his dreams. And Ben is falsely implying he is just now realizing this.

Even if Ben is lying through his teeth, I'd like to mention how utterly wonderful frame 4 is. It's gorgeous.

Good deduction. It hadn't occurred to me to wonder if anyone had been possessed already, though it should have.
