Personally, I have a newfound respect for George. While I'm a history buff (with a particular fondness for the Revolutionary & Civil wars), and I do respect the historical Washington, I've wanted to kick his incorporeal ass since he first appeared in the comic. However, the fact that he was able to recognize what Pat was doing, at least acknowledges that that is BAD, BAD, BAD, and has enough respect for Pat as a human being (and *gasp* maybe just a tad for what Pat has gone through & how well he's done with OACET?) to be willing to be civil to keep Pat from "going into shutdown" as I call it, makes me very pleased. And gives me a great deal more respect for the Undead Pixie known as Washington. What about ya'll? What'd you guys take from this one? |

Yeah, this is interesting. Apparently Pat can revert to being the Robot Boy Scout from before Ben patched the Bitty Bush at will—and it's a distinctive and unusual trait to ghosts, one which apparently unsettles even George. I'm also really glad to see that both of them are making an effort to interact civilly, no matter how badly or strangely. Honestly, I never really disliked George. He's no more than deservedly arrogant, considering; I think he and Pat just really rub each other the wrong way. Previous conversations have shown they're not exactly miles apart. But what is he going to ask? Maybe he's going to take up Washington's offer to trade places so he can talk to Lincoln. His original reason for not doing it was that he didn't want to be reduced to what he was five years ago, and he's basically just done that voluntarily. Either this is a very big favour he's asking or he's using this as a practice run. |

I think it's more that George is a soldier from an earlier era, and he simply doesn't understand that mental wounds and scars can be just as damaging as physical ones. Given that there are many people around TODAY who refuse to acknowledge that (q.v., how our society currently views mental health/illness), it's no surprise that someone a couple centuries old would find the idea preposterous; from George's perspective, having to listen to an annoying voice in your head for 5 years is nothing compared to getting your leg blown off. It's only when he sees the magnitude of the defenses that Pat had to erect in order to survive that he can see the true severity of what he was fighting. |

Huh. I like that. Internally consistent, and it contextualises his earlier remark that Pat was using the chip as an "excuse" very well. |
