Comic for 22 October 2012; The plot thickens! As does the stir fry...

So, I feel like a buffoon. I must have read through the AGAHF archive at least twice a year since I began reading, and I just re-read the entire thing maybe a month ago. And yet, I never even remotely noticed who was driving the Senator's car in the comic Otter linked to. Today's comic made me seriously terrified and nauseous. Amazing how a character in a comic appearing can give you the chills and make you taste your lunch a second time.

So people totally called it at the time, but I definitely needed a reminder that Clarice was a goddamned federal agent and knows how to hide in plain sight.

Funny, I was very surprised to see Clarice in the rear-view mirror, but I definitely saw it at the time (per your link, Jordan, thanks), so I must have forgotten. It's a little like experiencing the social distortion trick personally!

Am I the only one thinking that maybe Clarice's whole rule the world plot is the result of mommy issues?

Probably.

BTW. It would have been hilarious if she were adding Sriracha to the wok instead of whatever brown sauce that is. Though some would say 'Rooster Sauce' is more of a condiment than an ingredient. I disagree.

I wish I wasn't working tonight. Now I want to make a stir-fry.

@edit - actually it just struck me that I've seen some variants on Sriracha that were decidedly brown. Quite tasty. Maybe she is adding it after all, just not using the dominant brand here in the U.S.A.

It takes an average of forty-three muscles to frown, seventeen muscles to smile...

But only three for proper trigger squeeze.

I might need to vanish again soon.
Bad joke about teleportation? Me thinks the "sick Mommy" story is a cover for the rehab time after a teleport.

If I were Clarice, after I got over the fascination with my own boobs, I'd have a butane torch installed into one (maybe more) of my mechanical fingers. That way I could caramelize Creme Brulee! Take that Cat Cora.

And of course the torch would come in handy (I wasn't planning that pun, it just happened) for all sorts of bad guy spy work.

True, and yet _I_ still wonder why Mare didn't notice Clarisse.

For that matter did Clarisse notice Mare's little visit?

Same reason nobody noticed Clarice at the party - which was mere hours later. The rogue ghosts and the social distortion trick.

And yes, now that you mention it, I think Clarice probably would have been able to see Mare in the car, since green apparitions are the same frequency that the pocket president system used; you don't need chip-activation to see those apparitions, just to use the full range of the chip's capabilities.

So what is she cooking? or is it just 'stir fry, non-specific'? Looks like beef and tomatoes to me which I don't seem to have around here dangit.

Yeah, it didn't make sense at the time, although now we know about the social distortion trick Minivet mentioned it seems more plausible

Someone on the other thread pointed out that Mare may not have seen or worked with Clarice enough to recognise her. It's also possible that Mare just… didn't notice. She's (effectively) invisible and intangible, and she's only there to earwig on the guys in the back seat; the chauffeur is just scenery from her POV. That said, it would have to be a pretty damn good disguise, because Clarice would have to get out and open the car doors directly in front of a facility controlled by really, really paranoid, super-smart, transhuman federal employees. (Which makes the social distortion hypothesis seem far more plausible.)

I'm pretty sure Clarice noticed too, for the same reason as Minivet.
