There is just something that is downright Which is why I keep trying to get my wife to buy some sacrificial shirts at Walmart or K-mart but she just won't. >< Back on-point here, I don't know if you could call playing the player and getting played yourself 'spanked the bunny hard'. Ah well, go rooster sauce! Edited by Taolan, May 14 2012, 05:53 AM.

Love the strip. I think this is totally SFW: certainly no worse than much that is on live-action TV right now. There is arguably no safe and painless day to cut clothes off a woman with a large survival knife like the one shown in this strip. However, as far as I can tell, in panel three our Fed has the sharp edge of his blade pointed at his Girl's chest. (I could be wrong, but if I am it looks to me like the Fed's thumb should be seriously cut up by his grip. Why is he bracing the blade with his thumb while he cuts in the opposite direction anyhow?) In addition to the back of the knife being a less-than-effective way to cut the Girl's shirt, a slip would lead to a sudden cessation of romance, methinks. This panel made me wince when I first saw it. Perhaps a bit of redraw would be possible? |

I think the best explanation would be "he's just that good." Regarding the thumb, don't some knives stop being sharp (or even edged) close to the base? |

Now I really want Otter to offer some light Hope/Pat porn in the store, so I(and other people surfing from work) are safe, and I can still satisfy that craving she created:) |

Otter, I really enjoyed the podcast you just did. As someone who is trying to get several historical-fiction books published, you really nailed something I've been waffling over. I'm a stickler for details and historical accuracy, to the degree that I get anxious if I have to bend the facts to make the story work. That's really been getting in the way of streamlining my work for entertainment value. And since I've had no one to bounce those problems off of, it was a breakthrough to learn that story trumps history. Thank you very much for that. Also, psych majors represent! We meet Wednesdays in the unemployment line.
Nope. The base of the knife-blade is serrated, so upon casual inspection it looks like the back saw portion of a tactical knife when it isn't. But, if you just look at the shape of the blade's head beneath her shirt, you'll see that the bowie curve is pressing into her shirt rather than into her chest. What catches my attention is that he apparently pulled it from an upside down sheath strapped on her back under her shirt. I want one of those! But what's he doing with it in the last panel? Thunked it into the countertop beside her? Edited by Chrysophase2003, May 15 2012, 12:00 AM.

If you can't live without me, why aren't you dead yet? I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too. If God wants all the credit, he's getting all the blame. | |

Welcome PO8 and antongarou! I apologize if the inaccuracy offends, PO8, but I don't have time to redraw it. "He's just that good" will have to suffice. antongarou, I'd love to stick a frisky minicomic up there but my store service provider, my ad company, and Paypal each have strict limits on adult content. The fallout would be such a hassle! |

It is, nevertheless an excellent comic... I know very little about knives. A pity about the limits on adult content though... ;-) |

The structure of the knife makes it so that from that angle there is no sharp edge against Hope's flesh. His thumb is pressed against the flat side of the knife beside the serrations, something I've done myself with my carry knife when trying to cut something smoothly (for reference - http://www.gerberknivesdirect.com/big-rock-camp-knife_22-01588.html). The sheath could be a simple combination of a shoulder harness typically used for pistols and some stitching - I made one for myself a few years ago but don't really have any good pictures of it. Also, when he cut up like that he may have severed the chest strap of the rig, which would have slid out from under her shirt, allowing him to re-sheathe the knife... but more than likely it is currently upright in their cutting board. @edit for HTML fail. Clearly, panels 2-4 were filmed at a later date when they forgot to bring the makeup artist, so the director did some creative blocking to hide Pat's lack-of-black-eye. |

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but looking at panels 2 and 4, it appears to be Hope's knife that he's using. Panel two, it looks like he's taking it from the sheath under her shirt (maybe in a waistband, or small-of-the-back sheath) and putting it back on panel 4. |
