It feels very soothing for Pat to be taking control of the conversation again. (Of course, now it looks more like he was just letting Clarice rant to run out the clock.)

Let's keep in mind that this is the first of his three "things," and minor compared to the later ones. I'm looking forward to Thursday now.

I'm hoping that one of Pat's things will be that as soon as he "arrived at" Mike's place, he put out a call for somebody suitable, actually situated in Vegas, to come and at least try to collar Clarice before her ride gets there.

(Of course, if her ride is Henry, then who knows.)

I had no doubt that it was a trap. Pat is going to be sheepish that he didn't think of THAT variable.. but all that means is a certain female barbarian is going to have a defense over "Sensei's advice"...

I just noticed that this new chapter is glossed in the archives as follows:

I could have sworn that yesterday the timer was *three* minutes.

Today it is only two minutes.

Am I losing my mind?

Nope, you are correct! I realized that Pat had "three points" and that sounded awkward against a "three minute" timer. Couldn't change his three things, so the timer was reduced instead.

Jealous Reader, Unpublished Writer
From a storycrafting standpoint, I really enjoy how the heroes and villains can interact on a semi-civil plane and get to know one another (for the reader's sake) as events progress. Whenever I try to write a mystery or something along the lines of a first-person narrative, the villain is invariably so stone-cold that his natural response is to put a bullet through the hero's head before more than a few words can be exchanged.

The out-of-body thing that Pat and the other Agents can do really helps buffer the violence with foreboding storytelling.

Wish I could think of a buffer that didn't rip off someone else.

By the way, is King Cyborg never awesomely in control? When he shows up, he's got the situation locked down tight.
If you can't live without me, why aren't you dead yet?

I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too.

Well, he got way out of control the last time he was in Vegas.

Is nobody going to mention Godzilla?

No?

Okay.

Also, am I the only one that saw a deadman switch coming?
It takes an average of forty-three muscles to frown, seventeen muscles to smile...

But only three for proper trigger squeeze.

I'll admit that I didn't.

I did suspect the electric arm though. Further proof that going around barefoot is a bad idea.

I don't follow, but I figured I should link to the other time we saw a deadman switch in webcomics:
