Oh dear sweet holy kumquats, this is bad.

Yep, she has her sights set on apotheosis for sure. Yikes.

Hm. I guess it's some consolation, though, that this comic and its successor may not have meant (as I assumed at the time) that her plans are for apotheosis by atrocity.

So her plan is to replicate the chip and mass produce it, of some variant of it, so the ordinary citizen is capable of talking to ghosts? Well, if Steven Jobs became famous for wearing a turtleneck and selling the same product year after year in a shiny new case, Clarice would be on par with Santa Claus or Jesus for recognizable figures.

Still, I thought it would be a little more sinister. What with her sociopathy, I kinda figured she'd be more interested in subverting the human race under and iron fist. That kinda thing. Or is that for after she gets famous?

Still, the idea that the afterlife is based on a popularity contest in this life is depressing as all hell. High School was my idea of ironic Hell to begin with.

If you can't live without me, why aren't you dead yet?

I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too.

If God wants all the credit, he's getting all the blame.

There is always the potential for sinister motives... Like giving the world a chip each. And then controlling them all to do her bidding... Or somesuch :)

Sociopathy is about not having a conscience on how you reach your goals. It doesn't necessarily mean that you'll choose a "bad" goal.

I suspect her goal is to win that popularity contest.

Fair point. I simply meant to indicate that, what with her being a sociopath, if an immoral or reprehensible act would prove a more efficient use of her time, energy, and resources in achieving her goal, she would be inclined to take that path.

Speaking of which, I'd blocked that last panel (and the next strip) from my mind. Have I mentioned that I bloody detest Clarice? It's a real shame she doesn't have nuts, because I would like for Hope to kick them.
