And show some style! The fact you are a hooker does not mean you should dress like one! And skill. Never take a knife to a fight with a black belt martial artist. Which proves you should never send a ferret to do a weasel's work. |

Ha! Agreed. Excellent job on the 3rd panel, when I tilted my head I saw what was going on and was VERY impressed. Three cheers for Otter! |

I quite like the alarmed face the hooker's making... Surely, as a hooker, she'd be used to a bit of rough and tumble? :P |

Yeah, but she wasn't expecting it from what looked like a sweet little girl in a pinafore. |

I am actually a very conservative dresser. All clothes I buy for females tend to be conservative as well.

Why do people always underestimate us? :P Really, people ought to be more suspicious of sweet little girls in pinafores... We're deceptive :P |

I know, I love my dresses, but I've done some minor self-defense and martial arts. And one of my feistiest friends (extremely strong, flexible, energetic and with full knowledge of how to throw a punch) is 5'0. |

Okay, I'll bite: What's a pinafore? ( I thought that was a ship from The pirates of penzance...)

Okay, here's a picture of a fairly traditional pinafore. http://www.probertencyclopaedia.com/j/Pinafore.jpg In the nineteenth century it was a cotton or linen overdress -- a modified apron, really -- that went over a little girl's dress. The dress would probably have been made of wool and would've taken more work to launder, so the more easily washable pinafore protected it from dirt. The term pinafore is used in modern times to indicate what I would call a jumper -- that is, a sleeveless dress with a fairly low neck, worn over a blouse and sweater. Such as Hope wears a lot. If you can get hold of Beatrix Potter's _The Tale of Mrs. Tiggy-winkle_, you'll see a little girl going in search of some missing laundry, including a couple of "pinnies". The laundress turns out to be a hedgehog, but she's done all the laundry nicely and the little girl takes it home. Pinafores are not mentioned, as far as I remember, in _The Pirates of Penzance._ Try _H. M. S. Pinafore._ The ship was named that because it sounded silly in a late-Victorian context that usually gave ships names like Victory and Dreadnought. |

Pinafores aren't mentioned in Pirates of Penzance, but HMS Pinafore is, in the Major-General song: Then I can hum a fugue of which I've heard the music's din afore, And whistle all the airs from that infernal nonsense Pinafore. (Pinafore came out the year before Penzance, so Gilbert was not just poking fun at himself but also being topical.) Edited by Minivet, Nov 6 2010, 07:06 PM.

True; I had forgotten that. And, if anyone doesn't know, Penzance was a little holiday town by the seacoast. It would've been like an American talking about the Pirates of Fort Lauderdale. |
