I've been comparing the new strip 52: http://www.agirlandherfed.com/redone/redo52chapone.shtml With the one it replaces: http://agirlandherfed.com/comic/?44 I can't decide which one I like more. |

I like this one better because it's almost clear who the off-camera speakers are. |

I was judging it on: Which was clearer to follow (in terms of the argument -- as I didn't know, before reading your first strip, that a suicide was the jurisdiction of local law enforcement) and which was funnier. {edit}Clarity of argument is important for the joke because the humour of the situation is that Clarice's reading of the situation, when fighting with the policewoman's boss, mean that, if he accepted it [the reading of the situation], Clarice has excluded herself from being allowed to investigate. Hm, but do you think that clarity is not successfully accomplished? In both cases, Clarice's argument has led to Dixon's death being out of their jurisdiction - first, with suicide as a local common-law crime with no federal jurisdiction, and now, suicide as not a crime at all (which may be a more accurate description of how suicide is now treated in practice) so that the feds have no business there, much less jurisdiction. In fact, the current version may be clearer. |
