I was just wondering if there are any other Australians about, and what you think of the debate about whether we need a bill of rights. I read the arguments in favour, and against and have never really been too worried about my lack of guarenteed constitutional or legislative rights. It was all over for me when I read that Zimbabwe, Fiji and even China have them. Have I missed the point? |

Surely the matter hinges on whether there's an enforcement mechanism for the rights, as in the US (and now the EU, what with the European Court of Human Rights). |

I have no idea about anything regarding your post other than what you posted. With that being said, the following occurs to me. If you get to the point where you NEED the bill of rights to enforce your rights, it will likely be too late for you to get it. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. |
