Because I'm sure many people will wonder how to post images and use tags and whatnot, I have here The Newbie Guide. Anyone who asks will be linked to here. Also I took this from love-served-daily.com. I'm sure they won't mind that I took it. It'd also explain why the language for the most part is incredibly different from my writing style. Go figure. [size=7]Contents:[/size] * how to add images to your signature * how to add an avatar * how to use tags --- [size=7]How to add images to your sigs: (and in your posts)[/size] First of all, choose an image that you want to put as your signature. Most, if not all, image files are acceptable (jpg, gif, bmp, png, etc...). Upload that on any host site; either Photobucket or Imageshack. Photobucket you have to get an account, but it's free! Imageshack I actually don't know what the deal is with that site these days... if someone who knows could just edit this post that'd be wonderful! =D Once that is uploaded, copy the URL of the image. You'll know it's the URL because it's labeled as such on the site itself. Then go to My Controls at the top right hand corner of the forum page. Click on Edit Signature on the left module; you might have to scroll down slightly. Then click on the button that says "IMG" and paste the url. It should look like this:
Save it, and there ya go!  [size=7]How to add an avatar:[/size] Two ways: Upload the picture like how you did with your signature, copy the URL as usual, and paste it where it says "Enter a URL to an online avatar image" under "Your image avatars" Another option is to choose a picture you want from your computer. Just click Browse and find the file through there. Keep in mind that, "Your avatar must be no bigger than 64 pixels by 64 pixels in size. Uploaded avatars from your computer must be no larger than 25 KB. The following file types are allowed: .gif .jpeg .jpg .png .bmp" If you still have any questions, PM one of the mods. Don't start a thread, because it'll get locked. [size=7]Using Tags[/size] AKA those buttons right above where you post To use tags involving text, click on whatever you want to do with your text (i.e. make it bold, italic, underlined, change the type of font or size), first click on whatever you want to do. For example, if I want to make it bold, I click the bolded letter "B". When you do, you should get something like this:
Type in the text that you want bolded. For example:
The most IMPORTANT step is closing the tags, because if you don't, the effect won't work:

= Bakura is SEXY Tada! You'll know a tag is closed if you see the "/" in between the brackets ("[ ]") followed by whatever you wanted to do. The same thing goes for italicized and underlined words. [size=5]You can also just manually type out the letters; you don't have to use the code tags if you don't want to.[/size] [size=7]LINKS[/size] Now, to use the buttons below that (i.e. "http://", "IMG", "@"), you must enter the URL of the address, something like:
Then you'll be able to link it. If you want to link it with text, just do this:
5DsFandub With linking "IMG", though, that only works with image files, or URLs that end with ".jpg", ".gif", ".bmp", ".png", pretty much anything that's a picture. It should look like this:
 Now isn't that awesome or what? [size=7]COLORS[/size] I won't be teaching you how to use colors because colors are for mods and admins only. Sorry dudes. [size=7]QUOTES[/size] The quote button... quotes stuff. If you don't press the quote button by someone else's post, you can copy and paste their quote (and multiple quotes) and quote them using that button. Don't forget to close it with a close tag. Quote. If you want to do it manually, here's what it looks like:
The same goes for CODE and LIST. Not that you really need to use those anyways. [size=7]FONTS[/size] Type a sentence, and highlight it. Go under the FONT list, and pick a font. It will then be that font when you post. Here is an EXAMPLE: Bakura is SEXY! Now, if you want to do it the manual way, then all you have to do is this:
THESE ARE SOME FONTS: Ariel, Times, Courier, Inpact, Geneva, Optima Just make sure to close all the tags by either clicking "Close all Tags," which should do everything for you, or just typing out the end of the tag. [size=7]EMAIL LINKS[/size] Click the @ tab. Enter the hotmail, gmail, yahoo, etc account for whatever reason you want. Press OK. Here is an EXAMPLE:
youremail@hotmail.com [not a valid e-mail address, and if it works.... wow.] Now, if you want to do it the manual way, then just type out what you see in the coded quote. I hope this helps the newbies. =D |
