Theirs not much to getting a winch working mate, good solenoid, points in the motor and a power source and away you go. Have you got everything with it or is it just the drum and motor?

Discorave has inspired me to buy a beaten up winch and do it up hopefully saving me £££ in return for a little work.

After watching the online markets and keeping my eyes open for a bargain I had just about given up when one last search on time ending soonest gave me 46 seconds to research and make my mind up how much I would bid. After coming off google I had 7secs left to bid and I whacked in some numbers and hey presto I won a Warn M8000 winch in tatty condition but full working order.

I think It was a reasonable price and with a good clean, sand, paint, grease and rebuild it should look the part. I may even throw in some stickers. Including delivery the winch cost me £190.

he plan is to replace the steel cable with rope, clean it up, paint it, replace any parts that are beyond repair and get it fitted. Hopefully in total only costing me another £200.

Any recommendations or suggestions would be great.
