1st of all a big thanks to mike for leading this one and the effort put in 2 it.
after meeting at 9 am at the kings we left plymouth and headed up to meet with the others at various points en route.
lane 1 was blocked by a digger and we cldnt get into it.
a short drive to the next one to start the day.
a very mixed bag of lanes from very easy to very technicle
all in all some real good lanes to be had. a few stickages when yogi and his lwb standard pajero became wedged on a step and had to be towed by pete to free him.a few broken lights later he was free.
a real fun day .......... :D :D ;)

for anyone wanting to know if it's worth the long haul up to north Devon the answer is yes, this TOR road book hits it on the head with a good mixed bag of wide farm tracks to tight and scratchy, the surfaces are mostly hard with a few soft sections of mud where a good line is needed and carefull use of the throttle is needed. I had the line wrong and almost came a cropper in step 36 of the road book and took me a while rocking back and foward to find grip in the deep muddy rut section that was now flooded with water. a tip here keep as far as possible to the left.

as you can see from Big Nasty's pics ( i'll post my few up asap) the weather conditions were perfect crystal clear skys all day we left Plymouth at alittle after 9am and headed out on the Okehampton road to pick up Pixie drift on route, who was waiting by the side of the road for us, which ment for as quick pick up and allowed us to make up some lost time, next stop was woolacombe to meet team Morecider, it was busy by the time we arrived here 11.15ish with no where easy to park up and chat we headed straight out for lane 1 of the day.

Lane 1 looks like the landowner is trying to block the UCR across his field by leaving a small digger across the right of way, maybe somethings happened with people not sticking to the right of way, or unprepared groups getting stuck and needing rescuing by the landowner who knows there is no notice so it's an illegal obstruction, so keep an eye out if your planning to do this route, it's easy enough to turn around just outside the campsite.

so it was into lane 2 before we stopped and said hello to everyone.

The book said allow 7-8 hours in other conditions this might well be the case but we found even allowing for several tea breaks and a nice steady pace from start to finish was about 6 hours, which was perfect for us before the long haul back to Plymouth for some of us.

Having been a little disapointed by the cornwall TOR route, this was a perfect days laning.

Big Nasty's / Miss Evil's Vid of Yogi getting unstuck on a step.. the stock LWB just got beached in the middle.

a couple of rocks under the front wheels and getting Yogi to get his wheels pointing in the right direction gets him free with a tug from Team Morecider

Just as a small note we did infact miss a section on green lane later in the day while Jon and I where chating and we followed Tom Tom and turned left instead of right.

only noticed when i compared the data logger info to the route i had planned on Quo

Blue line is the planned route Red was the actual route from the data logger
