myself and big nasty went out to play today,
to try the pick up,

well we cruised up to cornwood for big nasty to try it out,
as he has never been there before,
my little pick up went straight up no messing,
then we thought we would have a look at forder lane,
upwards,
the pick up went up the first bit with out to much trouble
then i hit the side of the lane and well broke the front and rear light,
bugger,
but the little pick up kept on going and before we knew it we were at the top,
then we decided to go up rocky climb again with ease,
but the top of the lane was so flooded the water came up over the bonnet and into the vents which we thought was quite good,
then we started to lose power oh no,
the water had got well and truly into the air box,
we managed to get to the other end of the flooded part of the lane,
i pulled out the new air filter which was just soaking wet,
the car started to idle funny and steam was comeing out of the exhaust pipe and filling the lane,
ooops ive just washed the inside of me turbo,
never mind a few minutes later and all was well yet again,
the smoke cleared and off we went yet again,
excellent first day out,
a few clunks and rattles to sort out,
some excellent pictures and videos of the day,

:P :D

the lane was a lot easier than i thought it would have been to be honest,
i never expected only the light lens broken,
well up for doing that one again,

the pick up did well,
i drove it like i stole it up cornwood,
then up forder,
then nearly sunk it at ermington,
it still survived,
i might treat it to a can of oil and a new light lens,
:P :D

Guys, we use waffles a lot, why, well it means you can go slower and safer in the lanes, less damage to the lanes, truck, people etc... Our record (twice) is eight at once... I now carry four waffles... it means you can straddle a ditch and not have to bounce through it.

The other reason is that I am running a stock truck with 31" standard muds, sure I can use the Wrangler with 34" Swampers, locker and LSD, but to be honest it was all too easy and not the challenge that we (Gnarly Laners) love, the banter and teamwork we have getting vehicles through tough lanes is awesome, we spend a lot of our time, clearing, mending and improving lanes.

That Cornwood lane is now in a poor state, that's a shame, we spent three hours clearing it for all to use, since we cleared it last August I have been through it once.

The picture above: you can do this lane without waffles, you will damage the lane, damage your truck and it's a very public place.

Hope this shows why we use waffles? Cheers Maf

maf,
fact is mate when these nice lanes do get used they do get easier as time goes on,
when myself and shaggy spent all day trimming huge trees at rollercoaster it was the best lane ever,
we even had trouble getting a suzuki through it,
it had not been used for many years,
now as time has gone on its just another lane,
we have plenty of 10/10 lanes that we have found on our vast travels,

only yesterday myself and nasty found another lane,
which we will need to walk first then clear,
if at all it is possible to exit the other end ?

unfortunately only a few of us are really up for finding the new stuff,
maybe we should all go out and do the stuff we have saved for a rainy day,
