well just got back from another weekend away,
salisbury plain,
myself and capitano went up there early yesterday morning for a 0900 start,
yesterday was full of lanes from 0900 till 5pm,
still plenty of snow up there some places nearly 2 foot deep,
followed by a great pub dinner,
today another early start with even more different lanes,
finished off at 5pm
we have covered well over 100 miles of complete off road lanes and track this weekend,
non stop,
one after another,
a great fun packed weekend,
big thanks to all that attended,
not forgetting the catering department,
mrs capitano for excellent bacon and egg sandwiches to start the morning off with, also made to order sandwiches for dinner
the surprise vehicle of the day was a disco 3,
this car had nearly bold tyres and went everywhere,
the electronics on that were just awesome,
unfortunately he got a puncture at the end of day 2 and left to go and get it repaired but what an awesome bit of kit,
if it had a decent set of A/T tyres it truly would have been unstoppable,
met some great guys from up country and also france,
more photos to follow,

Great weekend, non stop lanes, good company, good food and accommodation. Completed over 100 miles of lanes in 2 days.

Left ear totaly worn out with Supersmurfs ramblings about

"are we there yet"

"huh these landrovers will have all rusted away by the end of the weekend huh",

" Japanesse cars could do this in one wheel drive",

"I could do this backwards in the Shogun",

"mmmmm nice sandwiches",

"coor look at the Pheasants over there",

"are we there yet"

"that Discovery is bloody good"

"me wants a Discovery",

"go on Land Rover get stuck",

"mmmmm nice sandwiches",

"Japanesse cars are great"

"are we there yet"

"that taxi was sooooo cheap",

"mmmmm nice sandwiches", :P :D

Seriously was a pleasure to have you along

The Disco was quite amazing defying the laws of physics. Normal road tires but managed to get through nearly everything that was thrown at it. No real bad sections just very sticky mud and chalk.

No damage to any vehicles except for a broken number plate and a puncture on the Disco.

9am Start

what is that i see landlord,
a tow rope on a landrover :o
never,
even the tow rope rusted through by the end of the day and snapped :D :P

will :call: the hotel later in the week to see when they are discounting the rooms,
then we can book early and use the same place,
makes sense as it was only a £4 taxi ride to the pub,
amazeing since the cab was on £3 when we got in it,

would have been a lot more if it was a plymouth taxi :o

good weekend mate,
many thanks,

yea the plain is excellant for a weekend trip, must do it again one day, great pics looks like you had a cracking time, i have to say some of those tracks look alot wider than when we were there.

a tip for anyone considering the plain you really do need GPS or someone who knows the plain well, some of the military tracks run right along side the byways and your not allowed on the military tracks, you may think your alone on the plain but look for the watch towers, sentrys and or wardens.

we can across a army sentry didnt see him to the last minute, and there behind him in the tree line was tanks, trucks, lorrys, etc just about visible from 30ft.

the sentry did pass comment that it was nice to see people sticking to the byways only as they report loads of public vehicles for driving off the right of way, he had been watching us some time, then redneck told him he was using memory map and a gps to keep us on the straight and narrow, a few times redneck would make us hold while he drove a few feet into a track to check it was the byway.

memory map is not the only program for this Quo is also an excellant digita mapping program that can be used

we had a good guide to show us everything,
over 100 miles covered on dirt alone,
on checking the gps against the memory map when we got back home,
we only scratched the surface of that place its a huge play area,

but its just rutt after rutt,

most of the rutts are just so deep that the landys did bottom out a few times,
i did make a few comments that our cars wouldnt be high enough on several accasions through the deep rutts ?

the snow made it more interesting for us and the thick ice,
a great place to go for a weekend away,
just to have a play on the saturday and a piss up,
gentle drive back home on the sunday,
