in the end Matt and Karen couldn't make it but thanks for letting us know, so the rest of us were not waiting at the start

having had breakfast at the Kings Arms the 3 remaining trucks headed off and took in a couple of close lanes just to get into the swing of things, we went to look at lopwell but as suspected the run off was going to be too much for the small trucks. so a bit of a road trip and heading for Denham Bridge saw us almost bump into our first fallen tree of the day, which as we got out to look at it up turned the guy that had been sent to clear it.

so another detour to get us back on track and a few more lanes before heading to Skitt lane and from there onto Lydford byway, which i always enjoy.

one more lane was took in before heading past Oakhampton and finally onto the east side of the moors, it was not long on this part of the day when the strops needed to come out as the AT's on Minidj's Sportrack became clogged and they lost all traction, was looking entertaining for a couple of minutes and almost saw the waffle boards come into play but, a couple of tugs had the Sportrack moving again.

several more of the lanes where took in and as the light began to fail we headed into Houndtor Wood for the decent, on opening the gate we were faced with a large tree down and i didn't fancy getting the chain saw out in the dark, luck was on our side as there is a track to the side wide enough to allow vehicles down, now I know I Always preach about sticking to the route, but there is an exception in the law that allows you to go around an obtruction, faced with reversing 3 trucks in the dark and the possible extra damage to the track that might cause, I first walked the other track before leading the group around the fallen tree a detour of prehaps 100ft

this was the first time I have drove Houndtor woods in the dark and it really does totally change the whole lane and at times I struggled to recognise where we were.

everyone seemed to enjoy the day, Hope you all made it home ok, as both the other trucks in my group still had 60 odd mile journeys
