Woods In Cornwall; Land rover Vs land cruiser

Friend in work bought a 1990 land cruiser 3dr.
after some banter and a bit of goading we decided to take them to the woods in cornwall for a play.

Off we went with his 1990 Toyota land cruiser 2.4 diesel VX with BF goodridge A/Ts
and my 1995 Land rover Discovery 2.5 TDI with roads, the girl friends, 3 passengers, 3 cameras and solection of lenses to capture the mud and getting stuck.

Not having a clue where we was going or what this woods was like and after the heavy rain we had, i did not have much faith in the land rover getting very far.
I was very shocked. the woods was great, nice lot of muds (Which i love) no rocks (which i hate) and not over grown.
There was only a couple of problem bits where i need a bit of a help. that was cause it was up hill and round a courner.
The land rover and the land cruiser did every thing else with easy but every thing needed some thought but there was a couple of bits where we just put the boot down and laugh. some really nice big mud puddles (which caused 1 mate and 1 camera to get very wet and muddy), couple of big ruts that caused the LR and LC to go along on its doors.

the land cruise is great off road, point and shot and it gets the job done. My mate bought it off ebay last week and all he done is ripped the front plastic wings off.

I'd like to see how it goes up agenst the much loved mitisis on this forum :)

It also converted the my mates girl friend who is a land rover lover (her family does time trials in land rover).

On the way home we found a little off lane that we thought we try to finish the day off.
We half way in and noticed it was a alot flooded with a fallen tree in the middle.
after a little scout on foot we thought it be do able and worth a go, the LC went 1st and had a little trouble getting over the tree as it half in the water and the bit was out was just below the bumper but after a couple of attempts he made it across.
Now it was my go. Made it to the tree with out any issues. follow his line over the tree, got the near side will over and almost got the off side wheel over but it slipped causing the LR to slide down the tree and alomst pulled all the plastic bumper trim off (thats coming off this weekend). Finaly made it over the tree.
carried on along the lane and noticed it suddenly came out in someones back garden. bit of shock but kinda funny.
then on to the main road and home. :)

cracking evening not and really enjoyed it. we are planing to go out again soon.

On with the pics. :)

i know bad innit. i might give it all up and start something else.
got stuck and damaged the truck as well.
dont think this is for me.

that LC is great. find the button for 4H a little odd and the manual locking front hubs.
LSD rear diff is all ways a bonus :D

Yeah LSD rocks, means you can go slower and chug through stuff, lucky to have one on an early one, lots of later Jap stuff had them more often.

Good work fella!

Would be good to get you to take some shots of my Jeeps in action as you know all the dibbie do settings on the dibbie do.....
